Adventures Along the Way!

Snowman

snow

Good Morning!  You may wonder why I’m thinking about snow but we have had quite the adventure this weekend!  Our trip down to Orlando was complicated by no internet along the way.  We had been using our Verizon data on our phones when we started getting email stating we were over our limit 😦  When we got to Orlando the International Palms where the convention was held nothing improved.  They had horribly slow internet that was pretty useless 🙂  That was just the start of our complicated weekend…

We had an awesome time with our customers on Saturday and Sunday.  At the end of the show a huge rain/wind/lightening storm popped up and we had to delay loading the trailer for about an hour which made us late getting out of Orlando.  I said I would rather load in a snowstorm than the rain and puddles!  Earlier in the year we loaded in a blizzard in Indianapolis, IN and it was easier than this load!   I dumped over a bunch of product into a huge puddle 😦

We stopped for gas and food on the turnpike but because of the storm the food place had to close and the pumps weren’t working so we had to go further…Got to our hotel late around 11:30 pm.   We got up at 4:50 am and started on the road very early.  We really wanted to get all the way home but facing an 18 hour commute home we realized it might not be possible and it wasn’t.  Had a delay in TN from an auto accident investigation that had traffic backed up for about an hour.

We finally made it to Merriville, IN (after about 15 hours in the truck!)  but as we were heading North on 65 we realized that the sky was looking really black and ugly.  We only had 10 miles to our hotel so we decided to keep moving…about 4 miles from the hotel the sky opened up and the rain and wind were incredible!  Finally made it to hotel, got some food, and fell asleep exhausted only to have Kevin wake me up at 10:45 and told me to get dressed because there was a tornado warning so we spent 25 minutes waiting for the storm to pass.  We also realized that there was no point in getting up early and getting on the road because all the roads had gotten flooded!  So a nice relaxing breakfast this morning and decent internet so all is well again.  Hopefully we will get back on the road soon.  Glad there was no real damage from the storm but really ready to be HOME!

Enjoy the snow card!  I really prefer snow to rain, rain, rain and more rain!  At least the snow is pretty.  I guess that makes me a true midwest girl.  Have a snow fun day!

penguin

so here is a cute penguin card…I don’t know why I’m still on snow!  But I’ve been playing with my new triple swing dies that I have been cutting.  I’m going to include some instructions today for how to place them.

cutting z folds

so my whole piece of paper is cut at 12″ x 5.5″  You will have a little waste to cut off but I say better too much then too little because once it is cut off there is no putting it back on 🙂

On the left side there is a score at 4.25″  I then place the back straight piece of the die along the 6.5″ ; tape it down then cut it out.  That is really how easy it is!  You will notice once you fold it there is a little area to cut off!

For those of you interested…I did purchase the Brother Scan and Cut Machine.  I spent a total of about 30 minutes on it today and I have to say I’m impressed!  It basically takes the majority of your stamps and makes them into a die cut.  I will have some samples in the morning!

Here is a card with my sq sizzix die that I cut!  I usually cut the paper at 5.5″x either 10.5″ or 11.0″  if you cut it longer you can always adjust but cutting some off.  Always better to error on the cautious side.  I then score at 4.25″ and then flip the card around so that I can place the die edge at approximately 4.25″

sq die

You can see how I cut my die with simple tin snips.  In the background you can see a couple other cards that I made longer.  I always tape the die down so that it doesn’t move!  Any other questions about the dies- just let me know in the comments.

so you may wonder why I uploaded a winter card?!!! When I was taking the dog for a walk today there were snowflakes!  I guess we are to get 4-5 inches of snow in the morning!  UGLY!  Gasp this winter will just not let go.  My laundry room is looking amazing though 🙂

Our son came home for the evening!  It was so exciting!  We are all headed up to a funeral of an elderly family friend in the morning.  It just does a Mother good to see her son so happy! So I’m off for some more Mother & Son time!

Can’t get enough of this snowman!

KB here today since my folks are in Indianapolis getting ready for the Heirloom show. Today, I have to share this cute handmade in MN stamp! I can’t wait to use it to make tags for all the little handmade stuff I’ve been working on. Mostly bandana bibs (or drool catchers as I sometimes call them) for all my friends having babies.

Here is a photo of what the bandana bibs look like with the tags I am currently using. There are a ton of tutorials online as to how to make them. I learned about them from a friend who makes them for her little one and they are a fun gift to give.

Stamp used on the little tag: DD53 KB’s Baby Giraffe

Now to the card, this little snowman is so darling and I think he matches the font and words so well. Sorry, it is a bit hard to tell but the card is a pearlescent white which is really pretty and shimmers. Thought about adding something more but liked the simplicity too much.

IMG_0918Stamps used on the card: EE47 and F233 which are not online yet but will hopefully be up soon or if you are in Indianapolis they will be in the booth. So go check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Snowman, Valentine's Day

heart melt2well my goodness, we continue to get SNOW!  We get a couple of inches then Kevin plows and we get a couple more, so he plows, and then we get MORE!  It really is pretty!  The ground is beautiful.

this card is a little smaller than the usual so that I could put the heart on top and still fit it into a A2 size Envelope.  I also like to use the snow pile for my snowman so that they look like they are sitting on something!

Stamps Used:  HH26 Heart Border; C240 Make my Heart Melt; F140 Snowpile; AA27 Snowflakes; B245 KB’s Top Hat Small;
