vellum birthdayGood Morning!  It’s a muggy, rainy, dreary day today in WI!  Should gets lots done inside today….good day for stamping!  The cards this week continue with vellum…so quick and easy.  We don’t need to spend hours for a nice card.  I’ve been trying to use my colored embossing powder and this is a good way.  Stamp Used:  F63 Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Blocks

Birthday

happy birthday blocksWe are still back in the ages with solid stamps.  Sometimes it’s good to back and look at old things to make them new again.  I’m really the queen of  thrift shopping and re-doing things.  Simple but elegant card.

We have had an eventful morning today.  Last night around 3 am the thunderstorms rolled through and we lost power.  I got up at 6:30 am and Kevin said “just get dressed, we’re going out for breakfast!”  I’m like “WHY?”  No power was the answer and I need coffee! So off we went to breakfast and because I had coupons for IHop we went all the way into Green Bay which is about 12 miles.  But 12 miles is one gallon of gas so that is why it is ALL the way to Green Bay.  And we can never go ALL the way to Green Bay without a purpose so we stopped at a carpet store on the way home.  Our house is around 20 years old and so most of the floors need replacing but I’m not sure what I want so I keep looking.  Found some good stuff this morning but I’m still just not sure!  Have a good weekend!  I’m still painting rooms so I have a couple planned for this weekend.  Need to get the whole house painted before floors go in!

Birthday Candles

Birthday

birthday candleGood Morning!  I have gone back to the old days today and brought out the solid stamps?!  Remember those?!  We actually started our line with them.  Made the background with them.  The candle is a new embossing folder we have been carrying in the booth.  Inspired colors by paint chips…it’s amazing where inspiration comes from.

So I have a heart warming story for you today.  We all know that retail is not the easiest business to be in but sometimes people just amaze me.  Last year we did the StampFest Orlando show…this year we elected not to do it just for some summer time off!  Our credit card machine wasn’t working last year in Orlando so we had to pull out the old one and the battery had gone dead in it but we were unaware of it since we  plugged it in.  Anyway, the date recorded as Jan 1, 1995 all day long.  When we batched out that night, several credit cards were rejected because of “late presentation”  meaning the date was in correct.  We sent in an appeal to the credit card processing company just explaining what happened and that the charges were current.  Well, some banks rejected anyway.  So there were several hundred dollars we were unable to collect.  One customer from Savannah, GA…Harriet.. noticed that the bank took her money and then gave it back.  She called questioning why she was given the money back.  I left a message just explaining what happened and that was that.  Yesterday I got a check in the mail from her for the amount that she was given back!! Can you believe it?? She got to thinking about the Orlando show coming up and remembered about getting her money back, looked up her receipts and sent us a check!  That is character and honesty.  Doing something that is right that nobody knows about!  Thank you Harriet.

Owl with Glasses!

Birthday

HB Owl GreyHB Owl YellowHello!  It is a beautiful day here in WI!  The sun is shining and it a cool 50 degrees!  Only suppose to get to 70 degrees today which is perfect!

Here is the card I made for my Dad for his birthday which is coming up in July.  Then I had to make one for the booth.  If you’ll notice I stamped the owl three times in different colors and then cut them out.  I like to cut things out!  I used to love paper piercing so I guess that’s why I like my scissors!

Enjoy your day…hope it’s a good one!

Stamps used:  D250 Another year Older; DD52 Clara Owl; E144 Happy Birthday Typed; F138 Happy Birthday Stacked.

Evan’s 50th Birthday

Birthday

Evan 50thGlasses QuickutzGood Morning!  I have discovered the studio is very HOT! so I need to get out early and work.  It’s a good thing! I have to get out of bed early and get to work.  I can get a lot more accomplished!  So maybe I shouldn’t put air conditioning in???

On Friday I decided I was not going to work!  I have discovered that when I need a card I’m rushing around trying to make cards for occasion.  This year we had four graduations, 2 birthdays, a couple of funerals, and Father’s day etc.  So on Friday I decided I was going to make a bunch of cards that do not go in the booth but go in a file for me to send out!  ( I have to admit I did make one extra of each card for the booth! Hard to stop a workaholic!) The card today is the beginning of those cards.

My friend Evan and I share a birthday and because he is OLDER than me, we had a birthday party for him.  In a former lifetime I was a Certified Ophthalmic Technician so I have always been a fan of glasses so I love this Quickutz die of glasses.  You’ll see it showing up on a lot of cards this week.  Enjoy!

iris frontinside irisGood Morning!  I have posted this card in the past but we were talking about it this weekend at the show so I wanted to re-post it.  It shows an excellent way of using dies on the inside of the card.

Off and running this morning with lots to do!!  I’ve been singing “rain, rain, go away…” getting weary of the rain!

Birthday Wishes

Birthday

birthday wishes cakeThis was one of the most popular cards at the Puyallup show this weekend.  It’s funny how we hang cards every weekend in the same spot but because of the way the show floor is laid out different cards get asked about.  I do love the colors…razzleberry and sour apple.

We are currently traveling and it has rained the entire day today which makes it a little more difficult.  We are in St. Cloud, MN and hope to make it all the way home tonight.  We want to make a stop at IKEA for a few things 🙂 love that store.  Hope your having a great day!

scallop flipHere’s another new flip card from The Paper Cut, Inc!  This is the scallop card.

We made a quick trip to Minnesota to see Karissa!  Kevin was driving back from AZ with his Dad’s pickup so he picked me up in MN and we left Travis with his Grandparents for a few days.  Glad to be back home again.  Picked up some counter tops for the studio at IKEA, need to get my painting done so I can get the studio finished!  Need to make stamps for the Puyullup show…need to get my class ready…gasp!  there is alway so much to do! 🙂 Keeps me out of trouble 🙂
