Happy Thursday! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. We have another sympathy card but really need more birthday cards. We have 4+ birthdays in our family this month. Hopefully I’ll have time for stamping this weekend! Or I’ll need to dig through my stash!
Hello. We’ve been working hard around the house on projects but I have also needed sympathy cards. I did a little stamping to stock up my stash. Some layouts are old stand byes that I use.
We finally got some hot weather in WI! It’s been in the 90’s. We are having trouble getting our pool chemicals right since we didn’t get the pool opened last year. I’ve been anxious to do some exercising in the pool. So we bought a bunch more chemicals hoping to get it right! We are having thunderstorms tonight so I think I might do some stamping. Hope your weekend is going good.
Good Evening! We are sad to be heading back to work tomorrow 😢 less time for stamping.
Tonight’s card is the same as yesterday’s layout with a color change and word change ( needed another sympathy card!) The colors are beautiful and the picture doesn’t do it justice!
Our family has had a busy start to the summer with a broken ankle, a funeral, a prospective surgery, A/C replacement, graduation parties, farm breakfasts, continued medical treatments, etc. It’s been a full May and June! We have squeezed in some seed starting and have been collecting strawberries. These strawberry plants are in a raised bed and this is the best they’ve ever done! They have been somewhat neglected in past years but with all the rain, it has been a good strawberry year.
The two cards below are ones I recently mailed out! I have posted the birthday one and link is below but not sure if I’ve posted the sympathy one or not. Very simple card with a beautiful patterned paper. I love having handmade cards on hand when I need to get one (or two) in the mail!

We thought we’d better update anyone who tried to place an order in the last day or two – We used Square process for credit cards and they suddenly quit working. We disconnected and tried to reconnect (Go Daddy told us too!) and now it doesn’t recognize our passwords. We tried calling square only to be told there is an “uncommon outage” whatever that means! We have reconnected credit cards to Go Daddy so the website is again accepting credit cards! Thanks to Lynn who called me to let me know she was having trouble! So a few quick cards I made for my son – hard to stay away from flowers!
All using the same stamp and random cutting dies I found in my stash – really old ones!
I have been having a good time stamping since my mobility is decreased due to the belly incision not healing right. I think it’s getting better but hard to tell! I start back to work 4 hours a day today – that’s probably all my brain can take. Looking forward to getting some kind of routines going again. This card is so elegant in real life- pictures don’t tell the whole story. Happy Monday!
So I did take Kevin’s advice yesterday and didn’t “over due it” and stamped pretty much all day! I love this layout! I started with several sheets of 8.5×12 card stock and cut at 5.5” on the 11 inch side; then cut two pieces 4×5.25” and 3.75×5”. I discovered that you can’t score the paper under the circles to just cover the circles to save paper. You have to use a full 3.75×5 piece. Well, I guess you don’t have to but if you want your card to look good you need to! What I like about cutting several cards is then I can just make cards and not have to get up and cut every time. I did take two circle die cuts and cut out of the 4×5.35” paper- they did go on random – in other words I didn’t measure to get them in an exact spot. I scored the 3.75×5 all the way across- again it makes the cards even across.
Normally I would not tape these pieces together and stamp but because of the curl on the scored paper and I wanted a photo- I had to.
I got started making sympathy cards and couldn’t stop. I also want to try this same card layout but change it up a bit today – we’ll see how the time goes. I’ve got a doctors appt so that kills a lot of the day.
I did stack these die cuts. One of my favorite things to do rather than use 3-d-dots. I just cut two extra layers and glue together. Love the look and feel! Stamp links: GG47 Hollyhocks; CC31 KB’s Bees; C331 Heartfelt Sympathy Sm;
Here are some directions for the layer: The layer (4×5.25”) card stock is usually the same color as the base card. score as below.
I do score twice. I score, then take a 1.5” square cutting die, and line up.
Cut out and then re-score since they get smashed in the Die Cutting machine . You could cut first and then score but I like the visual of knowing where the scores are. My score tool is just holding the paper down for picture.
Other Options!
I decided to leave this blank and stamp when I know what kind of card I need.
We have a gorgeous day here in Wisconsin. I feel like we’ve had a very cool summer which is probably ok since we didn’t get the pool open this year.
Last night after supper I decided to make some sympathy cards since I was down to none. Our son is a minister and he asked for some sympathy cards the other day and I only had two! He likes them simple with nothing inside so I went to work last night.
I started with this card…I had seen the layout and I wanted to try it.
The pictures don’t really do it justice but it is simple and clean. I used an old cutting fern die – I think from Making Memories. The stamp was C331 Hearfelt Sympathy Sm
We made this stamp for a friend who lost her baby in the last trimester and now we have had a second friend experience the same. There are just no words..
The card is pink and grey but the grey doesn’t photograph very well.
Love simple cards! This fern was cut out and used on a different card and so using the empty cut to show the brown card through. I used Fallen Leaves Versafine Clair ink. It is one of my absolute favorite ink!! It can be purchased from Amazon.
